YEREVAN, January 10. /ARKA/. In 2024, the activities of more than 800 hazardous industrial facilities, including petrol and gas stations, were suspended in Armenia. This was announced by Garegin Khachatryan, head of the Armenian Inspectorate for Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety.

"In 2023-2024, around 230 petrol and gas stations were suspended, approximately 60 of which were dismantled," Khachatryan said at a press conference on Friday.

In response to a question about issues at these facilities, the head of the inspection noted that they mainly involve the installation of above-ground fuel tanks near residential apartment buildings, violations of the required distances between facilities (such as apartment buildings, schools, and kindergartens), and the absence of lightning rods.

"At large commercial facilities, the problems include improper electrical installations that pose fire hazards, the absence of an automatic fire suppression system, lack of a smoke extraction system, and non-compliant emergency evacuation arrangements," Khachatryan added.

Armenia to introduce special labeling for products with milk fat substitutes

The Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia has approved, in the first reading, a draft law requiring that products made with milk fat substitutes be displayed separately on shelves and labeled accordingly.
