Pashinyan: 8,000 more citizens returned to Armenia than left – repatriation process will become institutionalized

YEREVAN, August 19. /ARKA/. In 2025, the number of citizens returning to Armenia surpassed those leaving by over 8,000, according to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"Recently, we have noticed certain repatriation and immigration trends in Armenia. In 2025, the number of Armenian citizens coming back to Armenia exceeded those departing by more than 8,000," Pashinyan remarked on Wednesday during a meeting with participants of the iGorts program, which aims to recruit specialists from the Diaspora for government roles.

The Prime Minister highlighted that individuals are returning to Armenia, buying homes, investing, and seeking to integrate their lives with the country.

"In contrast to 2014 and even 2019-2020, the trends in repatriation today are becoming more stable, partly due to the peace agenda and the established peace, which is a significant factor we must consider," Pashinyan stated.

On the topic of his initiative to recruit graduates from the world's top 200 universities for roles in Armenia's public administration, Pashinyan mentioned that he has already made specific appointments, with more anticipated soon.

The Prime Minister expressed optimism that the repatriation process will become institutionalized, as Armenia is now governed by a logic and ideology that the people have imposed on the ruling power, rather than the elites imposing it on the populace.

Acting High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan added that 68-70% of program participants over the last five years have remained in Armenia, with 15% continuing to work within the public administration.

"This year, the program includes 45 participants from countries such as Sweden, Spain, Russia, Norway, Hungary, France, Jordan, Belarus, Brazil, Argentina, Iran, and Austria," Sinanyan noted.-0-
