YEREVAN, February 8. /ARKA/. The National Assembly of Armenia passed at the second and final reading a package of amendments to the law on motor transport, which proposes introduction of a single route network in the country.
“A single network implies the presence of one operator in each province, which will service all routes, including the routes each of which is not profitable separately,” said Gagik Grigoryan, deputy minister of transport, communications and information technology.
In his words, a pilot project is planned to be implemented in one of the country’s provinces, likely in Armavir province, and similar networks will be designed for other provinces, which is expected to be done before the end of this year.
As a result, this sole operator will have a large number of buses and will be able to provide all provinces with them.
Now more than 100 communities in Armenia have no transportation links because of improper roads and scant passenger traffic. -0---
