YEREVAN, June 11. /ARKA/. One of Armenia's priorities in the aviation sector is the expansion of Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a government meeting.
"Zvartnots Airport must be expanded as quickly as possible," the Prime Minister emphasized.
The Prime Minister also noted the importance of reforming Armenia's aviation industry, which will allow the country to realize the potential provided by the Civil Aviation Committee, meet international aviation standards, and continually update them.
Pashinyan also highlighted the work required to grant international status to Syunik Airport. He also emphasized the necessary work to further develop Shirak Airport.
Pashinyan previously announced that a second terminal will be built at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport.
Last October, Marcelo Wende, CEO of Armenia International Airports CJSC (the concessionaire for Zvartnots Airport), announced plans to invest $500 million over 10 years to double the size of Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan, cementing Armenia's status as a competitive hub in the region. These plans include increasing the number of gates from six to sixteen, and more than doubling the number of arrivals halls, immigration areas, and customs areas.
