YEREVAN, August 14. /ARKA/. At a meeting with Iranian Deputy Minister of Agricultural Akbar Fathi, Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan suggested the implementation of collaborative investment programs across various agricultural domains.

As reported by the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Economy, this discussion took place during the 7th meeting of the EAEU Agro-Industrial Policy Council in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Papoyan highlighted the significant potential for cooperation between Armenia and Iran in agriculture, especially in areas such as crop production, livestock farming, agricultural processing, greenhouse development, and the establishment of refrigeration and warehouse facilities.

"Armenia aims to enhance its presence in the Iranian market for competitive fruits and vegetables, processed goods, dried fruits, and other food items, while also focusing on boosting the supply of high-quality Iranian products to the Armenian market," Papoyan stated.

He further underscored the necessity of sharing knowledge on efficient and water-saving irrigation systems, digitizing agriculture, and improving productivity in light of current climate challenges.

According to Armstat, Armenia's trade turnover with Iran reached $371.4 million in the first half of 2026, marking an 8.4% increase. Exports were recorded at $42.8 million (a 6% decrease), while imports amounted to $336.9 million (a 12% increase).-0-
