YEREVAN, June 11. /ARКА/. Armenian citizens currently have no reason to worry about a possible revision of gas tariffs, stated RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan.
"In practice, we are receiving gas as usual at the established tariff, and we are working with our partners as before," Khudatyan said at a briefing on Thursday, commenting on reports about a possible tariff revision.
According to the minister, it seems that press comments are more alarming than the actual situation.
"In practice, we are receiving gas as usual, at the established tariff, and we are working with our partners as before. So, I have nothing to add or comment on," Khudatyan emphasized.
When asked whether an official request had been received to revise the tariff, Khudatyan stated that there was no other official information other than what had previously been published in the media. "We received a corresponding letter from the relevant ministry in Russia. But I want to reiterate: we are managing our risks, including those related to a possible tariff increase," he noted.
The minister did not predict the future developments of the situation, but emphasized that citizens currently have no reason to worry.
He also stated that the current gas agreement expires after the winter period, and contractual relations continue as usual.
"We have a current agreement, and its expiration date is after the winter. A unilateral termination requires grounds. We are operating normally, receiving gas at the same rate as before, and in accordance with the agreed delivery schedule," Khudatyan said.
According to the minister, working relations with Russian partners remain good.
"We have very good working relations with our partners. Nothing has changed in our working contacts," he noted.
Khudatyan also urged against creating the impression that anyone in Armenia is interested in raising the gas price.
On May 27, Russia notified the Armenian side of possible suspension or denunciation of the 2013 agreement on the supply of gas, oil products and rough diamonds if Armenia's accession process to the EU continues.
