YEREVAN, February 25. /ARKA/. On Friday, Artak Ghazaryan, director of CAPS program (Competitive Armenian Private Sector), summarizing the results of the program, said that $14 million has been provided to companies in grants over five years.
“More than 500 companies have benefited from this program over the period between 2006 and 2011,” he said.
Up-to-international standards administration mechanisms have been introduced and e-marketing has been developed thanks to CAPS.
These efforts brought additional proceeds to companies, Ghazaryan said.
The aim of the program, he said, was to strengthen competitiveness of companies operating in IT, pharmaceutics and tourism areas.
He singled out the Computers to All, the Establishment of Venture Fund and the Creation of Technology Park in Gyumri as successful programs implemented under CAPS’ support.
Ghazaryan also said that a tourism development concept has been developed, and many programs have been implemented under this concept.
The aim of financing for pharmaceutics area was to introduce GMP international standard. The standard is already approved by the government, and pharmaceutical companies are now attracting additional investments and enlarging volumes of their output and export.
