Construction of financial center in Dilijan will cost $80 million, mayor says

The construction of the financial center in the Armenian resort town of Dilijan in Tavush province will cost $80 million, Dilijan mayor Armen Santrosyan, said at a news conference today in Yerevan.

He said the construction of the Central Bank building is expected to be over by the end of the year.
"The work is carried out according to the plan. The construction residential houses and cottages for the employees of the Central Bank has started and will be followed by construction of a kindergartens, a school and a university," Santrosyan said.
After the completion of the construction in 2013 about 100-150 families of Central Bank employees will move from Yerevan to Dilijan, and another 100 locals will be employed.
The mayor said as part of building a regional financial center in Dilijan the town will hand the building of a library to the Central Bank, which after a major reconstruction will house the town library, the electronic library and the learning center of the Central Bank.
The Armenian leadership has stated repeatedly its intention to turn the country into a regional financial center and bring in international experience and create a stable traditions in the financial market of Armenia.
According to experts, implementation of this program may take minimum 2-3 years. In the first stage Armenia should implement a set of legislative changes, to create a back-office. To this end construction of a regional research and training center was launched in Dilijan that will host regional academic forums, seminars and training projects.-0-
