“These are also opportunities of cooperation in energy efficiency area and in development and implementation of so-called safe city programs. He stressed the importance of the arrangement for supplying Armenian cheese, vegetables, fruits and juices to one of the St. Petersburg's chains of supermarkets.

«First of all, we had a chance to see that these products' quality is high and is in an absolute conformity with necessary norms and requirements, and besides – these products are affordable to St. Petersburg consumers,» he said.

Poltavchenko said that meetings between representatives of the two cities' universities were very interesting as well.

The guests met with representatives of seven Yerevan universities, and in one of them, Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University professors delivered open lectures.

«Our Cinema Institute sealed a cooperation agreement with the Russian-Armenian University, and I think this is a good start for exchange of students and interaction in science and education area,» he said.

He said that the Saint Petersburg is planning to host youth delegations from Yerevan at all large-scale forums.

The St. Petersburg governor also said that there is room for expanding exchange of tourists and added that representatives of many travel agencies from Armenia and particularly Yerevan took part in round-table discussions focused on tourism.

«I would like to point out the special interest our colleagues from Armenia expressed in participation of Russian and particularly St. Petersburg organizations in development of Yerevan Subway, including infrastructures, and construction. Construction of subway is possible as part of partnership between public and private sectors,» he said. -0----
