YEREVAN, July 8. /ARKA/. Armenia can become a unique energy transit link, stated Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgolami.
"There are new ideas and new plans. If both sides demonstrate the necessary political will, then, in my opinion, Armenia can occupy a completely new position in the energy transit sector and significantly strengthen its energy potential," Shirgolami noted at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to him, Armenia borders Iran, which holds the third-largest oil and gas reserves in the world, and to the north lies Russia, also a leading energy power.
Shirgolami thinks that this potential, with mutually beneficial cooperation, will make Armenia a unique energy transit link.
He recalled that Armenia and Iran are negotiating various areas of energy cooperation.
"The discussions and initiatives concern the gas industry, energy, transportation and transit of energy resources, as well as cooperation in the field of petroleum products," Shirgolami said.
