Electricity generation in Armenia increased by 9.7% from January to May, reaching 4.4 billion kWh

YEREVAN, July 8. /ARKA/. Armenia generated 4,380.9 million kWh of electricity from January to May 2026, representing a 9.7% increase compared to January to May 2025. This is according to data published by the Statistical Committee of Armenia.

The largest share of electricity generated—40.1%—came from thermal power plants (TPPs): generation amounted to 1,757.0 million kWh, an increase of 58.1%. Hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) accounted for 23.4% of the total (generated at 1,025.5 million kWh, a 5.1% decline), while the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP) accounted for 21.5% (generated at 939.5 million kWh, a 23.8% decline).

Solar power plants followed with a 15.0% share and generated 658.4 million kWh (an increase of 16.1%). Wind power plants generated 0.5 million kWh of electricity, an increase of 46.5%; their share amounted to approximately 0.01%.

Electricity production figures also include electricity generated by autonomous power producers through power flows.
