Armenia prepares to carry out land reform
YEREVAN, January 24. /ARKA/. Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan presented the current state of agriculture in Armenia at a meeting with Carolin Geginat, Country Manager of the World Bank (WB) for Armenia and Holger Klein, WB's Agriculture and Food Manager for Europe and Central Asia.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Papoyan emphasized that the government has a clear vision of the sector's development for the next decade: transition from traditional low-volume production to modern, technologically equipped, market-oriented production.
The minister also mentioned the priority goals in the agriculture sector - land reform, export diversification, digital agriculture and innovation, food security and human capital development, establishment of agricultural logistics centers.
“We appreciate the World Bank's commitment to supporting countries in their efforts to transform agricultural systems and improve food security, and view the World Bank as an important partner in helping Armenia achieve its agricultural development goals,” Papoyan emphasized.
Since 1992, the World Bank has provided about $3 billion to Armenia, including a current portfolio of about $400 million in investment lending, grants, analytical work and technical assistance.-0-
