YEREVAN, May 21. /ARKA/. According to preliminary data, Armenia's GDP in the first quarter of 2026 registered a 4% increase compared to January-March 2025. These data were published on the website of the Statistical Committee.

In nominal terms, Armenia's GDP at current prices for the reporting period amounted to 2,305,822.5 million drams. Per capita GDP at market prices amounted to 744,174 drams, 1,967 dollars, and 1,681 euros.

According to the report, the mining industry and open-pit mining demonstrated the greatest growth in the past quarter compared to the same quarter of 2025 – 35.5%. Double-digit growth was also demonstrated by construction (20.6%), transportation and warehousing (12.2%), administration and related activities (10.9%), and professional, scientific, and technical activities (10.1%).

Sectors that showed growth compared to the first quarter of last year included accommodation and catering (9%), information and communications (7.6%), real estate activities (7.6%), culture, entertainment, and recreation (6.6%), public administration and protection, mandatory social security (6.5%), electricity, gas, steam, and air quality supply (4.7%), water supply and sanitation, waste management and recycling (3.4%), healthcare and social services (2.8%), wholesale and retail trade, automobile and motorcycle repair (2.1%), manufacturing (1.5%), and education (1.3%). Other service sectors showed growth of 14.2%.

A decline was recorded in financial and insurance activities (13%), agriculture, forestry, and fisheries (1.6%), and households as employers (1.6%).

The 2026 state budget projects economic growth in Armenia at 5.4%, with inflation projected at 3% (±1.5%). According to preliminary statistics, economic activity in Armenia increased by 7.1% in January-March 2026 compared to the first quarter of 2025. Inflation in April was 5.3% (y/y) compared to 4.5% (y/y) in March. According to the Central Bank's monetary policy report for the first quarter of this year, by the end of 2025, Armenia's GDP growth is expected to be 7.1-4.7%, depending on scenario (A-B), and inflation - within 4.4-3.3%.
