YEREVAN, April 17. /ARKA/. Armenia will be able to benefit from the 11.6 billion pound sterling program of the UN Green Climate Fund (GCF), the British Embassy in Armenia reports.

It says in a post on X that the UK is the third largest contributor to the GCF.

"This pledge is a central part of our wider commitment to provide £11.6 billion in international climate finance to help countries invest in adaptation, build resilience and prevent climate change. We are delighted that Armenia will benefit from this support," the embassy says in a statement.

It is also noted that 7 countries - Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Indonesia and Nepal - can benefit from the financing.

In January 2021, the Armenian Parliament ratified the agreement between the government and the Green Climate Fund, which was signed in December 2018 and provides for the stepped up bilateral cooperation.

The ratification is to provide the necessary conditions for intensifying cooperation, create additional safeguards and increase the effectiveness of the programs by ensuring continuous monitoring of their implementation. -0-
