Armenia to renovate 500 km long roads in 2020

Some 500 km of roads will be renovated and constructed in 2020 despite COVID-19, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said during a government meeting on Thursday.
YEREVAN, May 14. /ARKA/. Some 500 km of roads will be renovated and constructed in 2020 despite COVID-19, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said during a government meeting on Thursday.
He said the government decided today to release 17.4 billion drams for the major repair of 185.33 km of roads and two transport facilities.
He said 97.26 km are interstate roads, 55.57 km are national and 32.5 km are provincial rods. He also noted that tenders had already been completed for the repair of a number of roads, in particular, for the major repair of 241 km long roads, and average repair of 80 km. Work is also underway on the construction of the M6 highway stretching towards the border with Georgia.
A 30-day state of emergency to curb the spread of coronavirus was declared in Armenia on March 16 and restrictions were imposed on free movement of citizens. The government banned also some types of economic activity. On April 13, the government extended the state of emergency for another month and on May 4 it lifted the ban on almost all types of economic activity and the free movement of citizens, except for public transport. On May 14, the government has again extended the state of emergency for another 30 days.
According to the latest official data, Armenia's confirmed cases of coronavirus have risen to 3,860; 49 people have died from it and 1,572 patients have recovered. ($ 1 - 487.66 drams). –0-
