YEREVAN, June 15. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan unveiled today the plans regarding the subsequent appointment of Artur Javadyan, the former head of the Central Bank of Armenia who quit office on June 15 because he already had his term in office expired.

Martin Galstyan, a member of the central bank’s board, was elected on April 17 by the National Assembly as Javadyan’s successor.

At a previous government meeting, Pashinyan expressed gratitude to Javadyan for his work as head of the central bank and noted that he would remain in the financial and banking system of the country. According to the prime minister, the appointment will be made very soon.

“There are certain agreements with Javadyan on follow-up activities - he will be involved in the development of economic policy and economic analysis. He will also conduct certain processes in Armenia with the involvement of international experts in economics,” Pashinyan said.

He said that there are already specific projects, emphasizing that their implementation will be a great success for Armenia and the development of economic ideas in the country.

Javadyan was appointed head of the central bank in 2008 as his predecessor, Tigran Sargsyan, became prime minister. In May 2014, Javadyan was re-elected the central bank chairman for the second term.

The Chairman of the Central Bank is appointed by the board for a period of 6 years, and the same person does not have the right to be appointed more than two times. –0--
