The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of Armenia has extended the license of Gazprom Armenia CJSC for the thermal energy production at the Hrazdan-5 power unit until August 13, 2027.
YEREVAN, August 5. /ARKA/. The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of Armenia has extended the license of Gazprom Armenia CJSC for the thermal energy production at the Hrazdan-5 power unit until August 13, 2027.
The corresponding decision was unanimously adopted at a commission meeting held on August 5, chaired by the head of the regulator, Mesrop Mesropyan.
According to the PSRC press service, Gazprom Armenia's application was reviewed by the relevant departments of the commission in accordance with the established procedure. No objections were received, and therefore the draft resolution was approved unanimously.
The Hrazdan-5 power unit is located in the city of Hrazdan in the Kotayk region and is operated by Gazprom Armenia CJSC (part of the Gazprom Group) under a thermal energy production license.
The company acquired the assets of the unfinished unit in 2006, after which it completed its construction and modernization. The facility's distinctive feature is its combination of gas turbine and steam turbine technologies, i.e., combined cycle operation. The power unit was connected to Armenia's power grid in January 2012. Its installed capacity is 467 MW. According to Gazprom Armenia, the facility has generated approximately 9.7 billion kWh of electricity since its launch.
