ARMENIAN-GREEK COOPERATION EFFECTIVE ON INTERNATIONAL SCENE

Armenia and Greece have established effective political cooperation not only at the bilateral level, but also on the international scene, Greek President Karolos Papoulias stated at his meeting with RA Premier Serge Sargsyan.
YEREVAN, June 27. /ARKA/. Armenia and Greece have established effective political cooperation not only at the bilateral level, but also on the international scene, Greek President Karolos Papoulias stated at his meeting with RA Premier Serge Sargsyan.

The Greek President expressed his satisfaction with the high-level bilateral relations, pointing out mutual support on the international scene, reports the public relation department, RA Government staff.

President Papoulias pointed out that his country has some experience in European integration and Euroatlantic activities, assigning a great role to the spheres in its foreign policy.

In his turn, Premier Sargsyan expressed gratitude for Greece’s assistance in various spheres, stressing cooperation and assistance in the military sphere. He pointed out the importance of developing this cooperation, especially during the implementation of the Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Program. According to him, Greece’s experience and assistance in this issue can be extremely beneficial.

The RA Premier agreed with the Greek President on the need for combining efforts in resolving regional problems and implementing development programs, because “no so many friendly countries have common interests in this complicated region.”

In this context, President Papoulias expressed regret over the fact that Armenia and Greece neighbor on such a problematic country as Turkey in the region. According to him, if Turkey eventually changes and is guided by the European values, both Greece and Armenia will not have to allocate huge funds for defense and security at the expense of the social sector.

Greek President Karolos Papoulias is on a three-day visit to Yerevan at the invitation of RA President Robert Kocharyan. P.T. –0--
