01.06.2007, 21:16
The RA Foreign Office regards as negative a strong contrast between the positions of Russia and NATO member-states at the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Madeira, Portugal, on May 25-28, 2007.
YEREVAN, June 1. /ARKA/. The RA Foreign Office regards as negative a strong contrast between the positions of Russia and NATO member-states at the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Madeira, Portugal, on May 25-28, 2007.
This was expressed in unequivocal support of Georgia, as well as in issues related to the Kosovo peace process and stationing of US missile defense systems in Poland and Czechia, says a press release provided to the Novosti-Armenia News Agency.
The RA Foreign Office also pointed out that the meeting participants discussed a draft report of the Dutch parliamentarian Bert Middel "State and religion in the Black Se region". One of the parts of the report deals with Armenia.
The authors of the report fairly pointed out that that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was not initially a religious one. Azerbaijan is trying to prove the opposite.
The report is to be discussed one more in October 2007, at a spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Reykjavik.
Head of the Armenian mission to NATO Samvel Mkrtichjyan was present at the session at the invitation of the NATO Secretary General. P.T. -0—
