President Kocharian, Georgian president speak on telephone

RA President Robert Kocharian had a telephone conversation with Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili on March 2, RA President’s Press Secretary Viktor Soghomonian reported.
YEREVAN, March 3. /ARKA/. RA President Robert Kocharian had a telephone conversation with Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili on March 2, RA President’s Press Secretary Viktor Soghomonian reported.

“The Georgian President was concerned with the situation in Armenia after yesterday’s disturbances prompted by the opposition activists,” he said.

According to Soghomonian, President Saakashvili expressed willingness to support Armenian people and authorities in this hard situation.

The RA Police broke up the opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosian’s rally in the Independence Square on Satruday morning.

Afterwards, the strikers went to the French Embassy in Armenia near the Municipality of Yerevan. According to the press service of the RA Police, the situation became uncontrollable and the crowd battled policemen with petrol bombs, sticks and pillage nearby public and private entities.

Outgoing President Robert Kocharian imposed a 20-day emergency on the capital Yerevan on Saturday according to Paragraph 14 of Article 55 (state security threat) of the RA Constitution.–0—
