Araik Khandoyan wounded, insurgents on alert expecting assault

Araik Khandoyan (Lone Wolf alias), a member of Sasna Dzrer Group, which seized the police regiment compound in Yerevan on July 17, was wounded today in his leg, Varuzhan Avetisyan, his fellow group member, told 1in.am media resource.

Khandoyan was wounded as he wanted to find out whether a drone was throwing explosives on the seized territory, at this very moment a sniper fired at him.
Avetisyan also said that it seemed that the authorities were making preparations for an assault, since drones were flying above the seized territory throwing some objects that can explode later.
“If so, we will defend ourselves with weapons,” he said. “We don’t want bloodshed, we are not terrorists, but we are strong enough to strike a strong blow.”
It was also confirmed by the police spokesman, Ashot Aharonyan, that Araik Khandoyan has been wounded.
However, in his words, the revolted men fired first in response to the police’s some demand and the police opened a return fire, which wounded one of the insurgents, Araik Khandoyan.
Sasna Dzrer armed group stormed the police regiment compound and seized it on July 17. The group took some officers hostage, demanding the release of Zhirayr Sefilian, the jailed opposition leader of Founding Parliament movement, and the resignation of the president.
On police officer was killed in the attack. Sasna Dzrer released later all the hostages, but they are keeping the compound.
