Armenia expects signing of new partnership agenda with EU

YEREVAN, 23 January. /ARKA/. Armenia expects to sign a new partnership agenda with the European Union in the near future, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan said.

‘Despite all the security threats Armenia has faced in recent years, we are unwaveringly advancing the process of European integration and expect that the new Republic of Armenia-European Union partnership agenda will be signed in the near future,’ he said at a panel discussion today with the participation of the Presidents and Vice-Presidents of the parliaments of the Northern European-Baltic format in Yerevan.

Simonyan stressed the importance of launching the visa liberalisation process with Armenia, which he said is a clear political message to the Armenian people.

‘We attach great importance to the Armenia-EU co-operation within the framework of the European Peace Facility, which will certainly contribute to Armenia's resilience, as well as to the strengthening of the logistical potential for the protection of civilians in crisis situations,' he said.

According to Simonyan, the deployment of the EU monitoring mission (on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border - ed.) has a positive impact on ensuring security, especially in the conditions of the hostile Azerbaijani rhetoric we are witnessing now.’ -0-
