YEREVAN, April 1. /ARKA/. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia has concluded the results of the competition to select a company for the introductionof the biometric passport and ID card system in the country.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the consortium "IDEMIA Identity Security France and A.C.I. Technology S.à.r.l." was selected as the winner. This organization scored 94.97 points in the competition for the public-private partnership program aimed at creating the necessary infrastructure, surpassing the consortium "AUGENTIC GmbH and Imprensa Nacional - Casa da Moeda, S.A.," which scored 79.24 points.

On August 8, 2024, the government approved the decision to issue ID cards and biometric passports to citizens of the Republic of Armenia in a new format. According to the schedule, the production of biometric passports and ID cards will begin in the second half of 2026.

The new infrastructure for issuing biometric documents—including the standardization of buildings, creation of offices, server facilities, printing equipment, software solutions, and technical upgrades—will be implemented by the winning consortium within the next year. After that, the procedure and terms for signing the contract will be established.
