YEREVAN, July 1. /ARKA/. Armenia is proposing to establish new requirements for the export of fish and fishery products to European Union countries.

The relevant amendments are provided for in the Law on Food Safety. According to RA Deputy Minister of Economy Tatevik Sargsyan, the draft law proposes to approve requirements for fish farms, fish production organizations, and storage companies to register with the European Union's Trade Control and Expert Assessment System.

The document also provides for approval of the procedure for registering economic entities in this system, deregistering, and issuing health certificates for the export of fish or fishery products from Armenia to EU countries.

According to the draft law, it will enter into force the day following its official publication. Subordinate regulations must be adopted within two months of the official publication of the law.

The bill has already been approved by the National Assembly of Armenia in its first reading. The parliament's Economic Affairs Committee voted to discuss the bill in a second reading at an extraordinary parliamentary session on July 2.
