Armenia appoints new ambassador to Iran

At the proposal of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President Armen Sarkissian signed a decree on the appointment of Arsen Avakyan as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to the Islamic Republic of Iran (with residence in Tehran). 8. -0-
YEREVAN, October 13. /ARKA/. At the proposal of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President Armen Sarkissian signed a decree on the appointment of Arsen Avakyan as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to the Islamic Republic of Iran (with residence in Tehran). The text of the decree was published on the president's official website.
Previously, Avakyan served as the head of the Department of Neighboring States of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
Arsen Avakyan is replacing Artashes Tumanyan, who held the job since February 2015 and was recalled by a presidential decree on October 8. -0-
