YEREVAN, November 12. / ARKA /. Armenia promised today ‘extremely painful consequences’  to Azerbaijan in retaliation to shooting down a Nagorno-Karabakh army military helicopter when it was making a training flight east of the line of contact between Karabakh defense forces and Azerbaijani troops.

The tough retaliation appeared on Artsrun Hovhannisyan’s page in Facebook. Artsrun Hovhannisyan is a spokesman for the Armenian defense ministry.

Earlier today the defense ministry of Nagorno-Karabakh said the helicopter Mi-24 was downed at around 13:45 local time.

“Azeri accusations claiming that Armenian helicopters have carried out attacks on their positions and got a proper response are mindless,” Artsrun Hovhannisyan said.

“An investigation of the helicopter’s debris will confirm that the helicopter was not military equipped,”he said

Hovhannisyan said also Azerbaijan was blocking attempts to reach the crew.

“This unprecedented provocation will be very painful for Azerbaijan,” he said. He said the crew commander was Major Sergei Sahakian. The fate of the crew will be reported later, he wrote. -0-
