Armenia’s National Academy of Sciences convenes assembly for election

Members of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia will gather on June 27, 28 and 29 to elect the academy’s board.

YEREVAN, June 27. /ARKA/. Members of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia will gather on June 27, 28 and 29 to elect the academy’s board.
The academy was established in 1943. Joseph Orbeli, a prominent oriental scientist, was one of the founders and the first president of the academy.
Viktor Hambardzumyan and Fadey Sargsyan were presents in different years, and Radik Martirosyan is the present president. He was elected as the academy president in 2006.
National Academy of Sciences of Armenia is a self-governing state scientific organization, which unites scientists.
The General Assembly is the supreme board of the academy. It consists of academicians, heads of scientific establishments and elected representatives of the academy’s institutes.
The academy has 4,000 employed people.
The board members are elected once in every three years at the general assembly. -0---
