Armenian president discusses relations with new UAE ambassador

Jassem Mohammed Al Qasem, the newly appointed ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Armenia, handed today his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan, the presidential press service reported.

YEREVAN, February 18. / ARKA /. Jassem Mohammed Al Qasem, the newly appointed ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Armenia, handed today his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan, the presidential press service reported.

It said  after the ceremonial part, the two men  discussed a string of issues concerning  development of bilateral relations and implementation of joint projects  in economy, agriculture, mining, health, tourism, aviation, jewelry,  diamond processing, banking system, infrastructure and energy sectors.

President Sargsyan was said to congratulate the ambassador on his new tenure wishing him success in his work. He expressed hope that the ambassador would use his personal experience and professional skills for strengthening and deepening of friendly relations between Armenia and the United Arab Emirates.

Stressing that Armenian-Arab relations are based on century-old friendship, Sargsyan described Armenia’s relations with Arab countries as an important foreign policy priority.

The president said also that relations between Armenia and the United Arab Emirates are one of the best examples of this mutual partnership.

The ambassador in turn highlighted his country’s warm and respectful attitude towards Armenia and the Armenian people, saying it is a great honor for him to serve as the first resident ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Armenia. 

The two men also touched upon the Armenian-UAE cooperation within international organizations, the situation in the region and the Karabakh problem, as well as the upcoming commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.-0-
