Belarus supporting Armenia’s accession to Customs Union

Belarus has been supporting and will support Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union (CU), Belarusian ambassador to Armenia Stepan Sukharenko told reported.

YEREVAN, December 19. /ARKA/. Belarus has been supporting and will support Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union (CU), Belarusian ambassador to Armenia Stepan Sukharenko told reported.
The recent allegation Belarus is against Armenia’s membership indicates somebody would like Belarus not to support, the ambassador said.
Today Armenia and Belarus have practically the same or close positions on issues brought up on the international arena, Sukharenko said.
The Customs Union is an open organization welcoming participants, irrespective of whether they are beneficial or not, the ambassador said adding Armenia is a brother country and Belarus will not be drifting apart from brothers.
The allegations have reached also president Lukashenko who will speak out his position in one of his next speeches, the ambassador said.
Following the negotiations between Armenian and Russian presidents on September 3, a statement was made saying Armenia intends to join the Customs Union. The roadmap for Armenia’s accession is expected to be signed in Moscow on December 24. –0--
