Strong Armenia bloc questions preliminary parliamentary election results
YEREVAN, June 8. /ARKA/. The Strong Armenia bloc reported pressure and violations during the parliamentary elections and expressed doubts regarding the preliminary official results.

"Throughout the entire election process, the Strong Armenia bloc operated under unprecedented and widespread pressure and persecution orchestrated by the ruling system," bloc spokesperson Marianna Ghahramanyan wrote on Facebook.

According to her, "the pre-election period was accompanied by targeted actions against our leader, candidates, supporters, and team members, mass illegal detentions, and criminal prosecutions aimed at limiting political competition and influencing the free expression of the will of voters."

She reported that on election day, administrative resources were widely used, with the involvement of state and municipal authorities, to predetermine the election results. Kahramanyan added that numerous violations of the electoral process were reported throughout the day from across the country.

"These events inevitably impacted the course of the elections and their results. Furthermore, an unprecedented development occurred: even before the Central Electoral Commission (Prime Minister of Armenia - ed.) had processed the results from all polling stations, Nikol Pashinyan announced his "victory and the formation of a sole government," which was a direct signal and instruction to the CEC," Kahramanyan noted.

She also noted that, under these circumstances, the published figures cannot reflect the real picture and should not be interpreted without in-depth study and a political and legal assessment.

"The central headquarters of the 'Strong Armenia' bloc is currently analyzing the situation and working to clarify the true picture of the voters' will. After completing this work, we will present our position and next steps," Kahramanyan concluded.

According to preliminary election results presented by the Central Election Commission on June 8, three political forces have entered the Armenian parliament: the Civil Contract Party (receiving 49.825% of the vote), the Strong Armenia bloc (23.281%), and the Armenia bloc (9.934%).

The remaining 15 political forces that participated in the June 7 parliamentary elections failed to pass the minimum threshold for entry into the National Assembly (4% for parties, 8% for blocs consisting of two parties, and 10% for blocs of three or more parties).

According to the Central Election Commission, 2,503,974 people are included in the voter registry in Armenia. Turnout was 58.97%, with 1,476,916 voters casting their ballots.
