YEREVAN, May 7. /ARKA/. CIS mission declares parliamentary elections in Armenia as free, open and competitive. 

“Parliamentary elections in Armenia, held on May 6, met electoral legislature and common norms of democracy,” CIS observation mission head Vladimir Garkun told the journalists on Monday. 

He also noted that the elections appeared as an important step towards enhancing democracy in the country.

Total of 173 CIS observers were monitoring the polls.

The parliamentary elections of the fifth convocation were monitored by 647 international experts, as well as an unprecedented number of local observers, - over 31,000. 

The preliminary results from 99% of electoral districts show five parties- Republican Party, Prosperous Armenia Party, Heritage, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Orinats Yerkir and a bloc of oppositional Armenian National Congress won seats in the parliament. 

Republican Party continues winning the largest number of seats, gaining 44.11 % (655, 675 votes), the results show. 

According to Central Electoral Commission Prosperous Armenia is the second leading party with 30.14% (448, 026 votes). Armenian National Congress ( party bloc) is behind these two parties with 7.11% (105, 640 votes). 

Heritage received 5.79% (86, 037), Armenian Revolution Federation Dashnaktsutyun – 5.71% (84, 932), Orinats Yerkir – 5.50% (81, 688), Communist Party of Armenia- 1,06% (15, 740), Democratic Party of Armenia -0.37% (5520) and United Armenians Party - 0.21% (3051).

As of the most recently updated data 1 million 572 thousand 518 constituents or 62,33% of the electorate voted in the polls. --0--
