Civil disobedience acts continue in central Yerevan, 38 detained so far
YEREVAN, 14 May. /ARKA/. Civil disobedience acts restarted on Tuesday morning in the centre of Yerevan.
Activists of the Tavush for Homeland movement and other citizens supporting them block streets and crossroads in central Yerevan “to create awareness”. The police prevent their acts and detain some of the activists. Reportedly, some school and university students joined the protesters.
In total, 38 protesters were detained on Tuesday as of 10 o’clock in the morning for failure to comply with police orders, police spokesman Zarzand Gabrielyan told ARKA.
The opposition movement led by Bagrat Galstanyan, the Primate of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, protests against the delimitation of Armenia’s border with Azerbaijan. The activists demand that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan resign and that his government be dissolved.
A total of 171 individuals were detained by the police during similar acts on Monday morning, all were released after several hours.
