YEREVAN, April 26. /ARKA/. France is convinced that it is possible to solve Karabakh problem by peaceful means, Harlem Désir, France’s Secretary of State for European Affairs, said Monday as met with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
He said his country is interested in resumption of talks for peaceful settlement of the conflict.
Désir confirmed the stance taken by France, which is also a co-chair country at OSCE Minsk Group that mediates Karabakh conflict settlement.
Sargsyan, on his side, said that his concerns about Azerbaijan’s destructive stance and its consequences have come true – this country’s servicemen have committed many crimes also against civilians during their military campaign launched earlier this month.
Although they were driven back by Karabakh army, he said, but things remain tense.
Sargsyan presented his opinion of the causes of the recent escalation of tension in Karabakh conflict zone and ways to settle the conflict.
On April 2, 2016 Azerbaijan launched military assaults along the entire perimeter of its contact line with Nagorno Karabakh.
A ceasefire arrangement was announced four days later. ---0---
