Global forum in Armenia adopts Yerevan declaration against genocides

Some 600 delegates from tens of countries who have arrived in Armenia to attend the global forum "Against the Crime of Genocide" have endorsed the Yerevan Declaration, a member of the British House of Lords, Baroness Caroline Cox, said at the end of the gathering.
YEREVAN, April 23. / ARKA /. Some 600 delegates from tens of countries who have arrived in Armenia to attend the global forum "Against the Crime of Genocide" have endorsed the Yerevan Declaration, a member of the British House of Lords, Baroness Caroline Cox, said at the end of the gathering.
The forum held on April 22-23 in Yerevan was part of a long string of events commemorating the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.
The proposal to adopt the Yerevan Declaration was made by French politician of Armenian origin Patrick Devedjian, who said the papers presented at the gathering contained a wealth of ideas and proposals, including the need to create a document that will summarize all the issues included in the agenda of the forum.
The global forum consisted of several sessions including one on the evolution of tools to prevent crimes against humanity in international law.
Co-chairs of the forum were Patrick Devedjian, Baroness Caroline Cox and Nikolay Ryzhkov, chairman of a commission of the Federation Council (upper chamber) of the Russian parliament.-0-
