Greece intends to develop bilateral ties with Armenia – speaker

The visiting speaker of the Greek parliament, Vangelis Meimarakis, said his government will do everything possible to strengthen bilateral ties with Armenia and help also boost relations between Armenia and the European Union as he was received today by President Serzh Sargsyan.

The visiting speaker of the Greek parliament, Vangelis Meimarakis, said his government will do everything possible to strengthen bilateral ties with Armenia and help also boost relations between Armenia and the European Union as he was received today by President Serzh Sargsyan.
Speaking about the prospects of relations with Europe, president Sargsyan said they did not change. He added that at the Eastern Partnership summit last November in Vilnius Armenia reaffirmed its commitments to develop close cooperation with the European Union.
He said Armenia’s National Security Council approved yesterday a draft plan of actions between and Armenia and EU under the European Neighborhood Policy for 2014-2015.
On January 1, 2014 Greece took over the rotating chairmanship of the European Union for the next six months.
Greek Parliament Speaker arrived in Armenia yesterday on a two-day official visit at the invitation of his Armenian opposite number Hovik Abrahamyan. -0-
