ICRC representatives visited Armenians held in Baku in February and assessed their condition

YEREVAN, February 26. /ARKA/. Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) visited Armenians held in Azerbaijan in February, Zara Amatuni, head of the public relations department of the ICRC delegation in Armenia, told Novosti-Armenia.
According to her, all detainees were given the opportunity to communicate with their families and loved ones.
"During the meetings, the conditions of their detention, their health, and the rules regarding their treatment were assessed," Amatuni noted.
She also emphasized that the conditions of detention and the health of detainees are always a key focus for the ICRC.
The previous visit by ICRC representatives to Armenian prisoners took place in January.
About Armenian Prisoners in Baku
Officially, Azerbaijan confirms holding only 33 Armenian prisoners of war and civilians, but Armenian human rights activists report that there are an additional 80 Armenian detainees.
In Azerbaijan, former State Minister of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan, former Presidents of the Republic Bako Sahakyan, Arkady Ghukasyan, and Arayik Harutyunyan, former Speaker of Parliament David Ishkhanyan, former Foreign Minister and former assistant to the President of the NKR David Babayan, former Commander of the Defense Army Levon Mnatsakanyan, and former Deputy Commander of the Artsakh Defense Army David Manukyan are under arrest.
