Iranian foreign minister to visit Armenia and Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, May 24. / ARKA /. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will visit Armenia and Azerbaijan, Iranian IRNA news agency reported quoting the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Said Khatibzade.

The visit will begin on Tuesday, May 25th. No other details were disclosed. In the meantime, Armenia's Acting Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan on Monday had a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zokhuri.

According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the main topics discussed were regional security and peace. The two men were said to have looked into the crisis on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border after Azeri troops had advanced into Armenian territory.

Ayvazyan stressed that Azerbaijani troops must withdraw immediately and unconditionally. They were said to have also exchanged views on a number of issues on the Armenian-Iranian agenda.

Special attention was paid to recent high-level visits and the implementation of the agreements reached.

Iranian foreign Minister Zarif had visited Armenia on January 26-27, 2021 for talks with his Armenian counterpart Ara Ayvazyan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. -0-
