A new map of Armenia called Hayq, drawn by cartographer Grigor Beglaryan in collaboration with Instigate company, was presented on Monday in Yerevan.
YEREVAN, December 29. / ARKA /. A new map of Armenia called Hayq, drawn by cartographer Grigor Beglaryan in collaboration with Instigate company, was presented on Monday in Yerevan.
Instigate company co-founder Vahagn Poghosyan said this map was created to enable different sections of the population, including school and university students, to use a map on which there are no borders between Armenia and Artsakh (the Armenian name for Nagorno-Karabakh).
Cartographer Grigor Beglaryan, in turn, stressed that drawing this map called Hayq (a historical name of Armenia) is a step forward for the Armenian cartography.
"This is a very important matter that had to be initiated by the government," he said.
The cartographer said that he intends to draw a map and atlas of the entire territory of historical Armenia with all the historical names.
Karen Vardanyan, head of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE) said with this map “we show that we do not obey the forces that draw artificial borders."-0-
