YEREVAN, April 16. /ARKA/. Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the opposition Yelk party, was hospitalized, tert.am reported.
Opposition activists, led by Nikol Pashinyan, clashed minutes ago with riot police on Baghramyan Avenue in the Armenian capital Yerevan, several hundreds meters away from the parliament building.
The police used stun grenades, several protesters were injured. An ambulance was allowed to reach the injured, who received first aid on the spot. According to tert.am Pashinyan was taken to hospital by a police car. He was injured in the hands and face.
The ruling Republican Party of Armenia and its junior coalition partner the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) factions unanimously approved today Sargsyan as the nominee for the post of prime minister. Parliament is expected to vote on the matter on April 17.
Thousands of Armenians have been protesting in an attempt to prevent Sargsyan from grabbing power over the past four days blocking streets in the center of Yerevan on April 16. -0-
