No stamp duties for Syrian Armenians anymore- cabinet

The Syrian Armenians will get stamp duty exemptions when prolonging their visas or obtaining permanent residence, according to amendments to “Stamp duties” law made by the Cabinet Thursday.

YEREVAN, August 29. /ARKA/. The Syrian Armenians will get stamp duty exemptions when prolonging their visas or obtaining permanent residence, according to amendments to “Stamp duties” law made by the Cabinet Thursday.
“We felt the necessity for making these amendments after the visas of our compatriots fr om Syria started expiring. Today one has to pay 500 drams for each day’s visa prolongation, and 105-140,000 drams for obtaining permanent residence,” Armenia’s Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan said at the Cabinet meeting.
She also added that the issues is being reviewed under the instruction by President.
“In order to not relate to only the Syrian Armenians, we suggest that the text should state that all those Armenians, who are citizens of the states wh ere their lives are threatened, get stamp duty exemption,” she added.
According to Diaspora Ministry, as of now 1700 Syrian Armenians are currently residing in Armenia, excluding 400 children who are spending their vacancies here. ($1 – 409.58 drams).—0-
