YEREVAN, August 4. /ARKA/. Armenia is ready to provide overland communication between the western districts of Azerbaijan and its exclave Nakhichevan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today.

"Yes, we are ready today and every day to provide overland communication between the western districts of Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan. It is Azerbaijan that does not use the opportunities provided by us. We are saying even today: cross the Armenian border and go to Nakhichevan according to the legislation of the Republic of Armenia. Today we are ready for that," he said at a Thursday's government session.

As for the new roads being built, Pashinyan said under the trilateral statement (signed by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia in November 2020 to end the war in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone) it should take place with the consent of the parties.

"We consider the discussion of the routes of these roads a secondary issue. The paramount issue is to fix and implement legal procedures. I officially declare: today Azerbaijanis can cross the border of Armenia through several points and travel to Nakhichevan," he said.

The prime minister pointed out that the westernmost region of Azerbaijan is the Gazakh region.

"Let them come, cross (the border) and go to Nakhichevan. We guarantee the safety of this route. And not only along the Gazakh-Ijevan route, but also along the sections of Gazakh-Berd, Vardenis, Sisian, Yeraskh, Goris roads," he said.--0--
