Thirty Azeri commandoes’ attacks were repelled by nine Karabakh army servicemen

Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan presented today the details of an armed clash between Karabakh’s Defence Army and Azerbaijani “sabotage groups” that attacked Armenian positions at two different sections of the “line of contact” around the Nagorno-Karabakh last weekend.

YEREVAN, January 21. / ARKA /. Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan presented today the details of an armed clash between Karabakh’s Defence Army and Azerbaijani “sabotage groups” that attacked Armenian positions at two different sections of the “line of contact” around the Nagorno-Karabakh last weekend.
He said some 30 Azeri commandoes’ attacks were repelled by 9 servicemen of the Karabakh armed forces.
One of the Armenian soldiers, Sergeant Armen Hovannisian, was shot dead in the fights. He was posthumously awarded a medal for bravery by Karabakh President Bako Sahakian.
The incident was condemned by Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and his Karabakh Armenian counterpart, Karen Mirzoyan, who accused Baku of attempting to obstruct negotiations between the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers planned for this week in Paris. -0-
