YEREVAN, January 16. /ARKA/. The U.S. Department of State is suspending immigrant visas for citizens of 75 countries, including Armenia, effective January 21, 2026.
"President Donald Trump has made clear that immigrants must be financially self-sufficient and not be a financial burden on Americans. The State Department is conducting a comprehensive review of all policies and regulations to ensure that immigrants from these high-risk countries do not rely on public benefits in the United States and do not become a burden on society," the State Department said in a statement.
It is noted that the suspension applies exclusively to immigrant visa applicants. Tourist visas are nonimmigrant visas.-0-
