Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan who was in the Islamic Republic of Iran to participate in the inauguration ceremony of president-Elect Hasan Rouhani, had a meeting with the new Iranian president.

YEREVAN, August 5, / ARKA /. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan who was in the Islamic Republic of Iran to participate in the inauguration ceremony of president-Elect Hasan Rouhani, had a meeting with the new Iranian president.

"The presidents discussed bilateral cooperation as well as a wide range of issues pertaining to multilateral relations. It was stressed that the agenda of the Armenian-Iranian cooperation is quite intense, as evidenced by the implementation of a number of major projects", Sargsyan press office said in a statement.

Expressing satisfaction over the mutually beneficial cooperation, based on the age-old friendship, the presidents stressed the need to enhance cooperation to a higher level, the press office said. The two sides also discussed regional issues, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

According to Sargsyan press office, at the beginning of the meeting Rouhani thanked his Armenian counterpart for  participation in his inauguration ceremony, while Sargsyan once again congratulated his Iranian counterpart on his election as president wishing  him fruitful work and success in this high and responsible position. -0-
