Armenia’s State University of Economics and the Union of Armenian Banks signed a cooperation agreement on Friday.
YEREVAN, September 13. /ARKA/. Armenia’s State University of Economics and the Union of Armenian Banks signed a cooperation agreement on Friday.

The agreement implies cooperation in financial, banking and labor market education.

Koryun Atoyan, head of the university, said at the signing ceremony that this agreement would enhance the quality of higher education.

In recent years, he said, ties between universities and employers were destroyed. That is why universities’ administrations and graduates couldn’t understand employers’ requirements.

Atoyan said the university and the union would organize education process jointly. He said that not only professors at the university, but also Armenian bankers and representatives of the union will deliver lections to students. Students will get their first experience from internship at commercial banks and the union. The final exam will be conducted jointly.

The head of the university said that students will understand employers’ requirements and will make every effort to produce excellent results.

“Only the best students will be sent to banks upon their graduation, and there will be competition as well – only those having excellent knowledge will get jobs,” he said.

Ashot Osipyan, chairman of the union, said that this is the union’s first long-term education program. Before that the union provided classes for various specialists who wanted to upgrade their qualification.

Stressing the importance of this program, he said it would add a great deal to Armenia’s experience in elaboration of education programs and would give students a chance to get pre-graduate experience from internship at commercial banks. -0-
