880 patients with acute respiratory viral infection and 568 patients with pneumonia hospitalized in Armenia last week

YEREVAN, February 24. /ARKA/. The Armenian National Center for Disease Control and Prevention said 880 patients with acute respiratory viral infections were hospitalized, 92.8% of whom were children aged 0 to 18 from February 17 to February 23,
It noted that 568 patients were hospitalized with pneumonia, 70% of whom e aged 0-18 years.
During the same period, 24 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded, as many as in the previous week, and compared to the same period last year, the figure was 2 times lower.
“Influenza A subtype H1pdm09 and influenza B pathogens continue to circulate in the country. Other infections include respiratory syncytial virus, rhinovirus and SARS-COV-2 coronavirus pathogens”, the Center said.
It said that as of February 20, the total incidence of acute respiratory infections in schools was 2.0%, and the number of absences was 23.2%.
In the same period in 2024, the total incidence of acute respiratory infections registered in schools was 1.1%, and the number of absences - 28.9%.
