YEREVAN, January 13. /ARKA/. In Armenia, the birth rate decreased by 7.8% in January-November 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to data published by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia. The decline in the birth rate has been observed since January of last year.

It is reported that 30,916 babies were born during the reporting period, while there were 33,514 newborns in the first ten months of 2023.

At the same time, 412 cases of stillbirths were recorded during this period, a 9.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

In total, 23,391 people died in the country from January to November 2024, which is 5.4% more than in the same period in 2023.

As a result, the vitality index—the ratio of the number of births to the number of deaths—stood at 132.2% for January-November 2024, compared to 151% for the same period in the previous year.
