Armenia and Russia maintain contacts on the coronavirus vaccine, said Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin in the Special Opinion program on the Novosti-Armenia news agency's YouTube channel.

YEREVAN, September 11. /ARKA/. Armenia and Russia maintain contacts on the coronavirus vaccine, said Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin in the Special Opinion program on the Novosti-Armenia news agency's YouTube channel.
“There is a vaccine, even two, judging by the information that is available. We are in contact with the competent Armenian authorities regarding the vaccine. There are certain proposals. This is a topic that is not only in sight, but also in joint development,” he said.
The ambassador noted that during the period of the epidemic, Russia provided Armenia with test systems and reagents for conducting more than 100,000 tests.
“As far as I understand, about 230,000 tests have been carried out so far, that is, the ratio is visible,” Kopirkin said.
The diplomat also pointed out that a modern mobile diagnostic laboratory has been operating in Armenia for six months under the auspices of the Russian defense ministry, which is racing against time to make as many tests as possible. The laboratory has made more than 17,000 tests to date.
“This is a fairly significant contribution to the prevention of the coronavirus and fight against it,” he said.
The ambassador noted that joint steps were taken within the Eurasian Economic Union to ensure the necessary economic and social measures to stabilize the situation, "so that there are no crisis phenomena in the Union countries".

According to the report issued Thursday morning, there are 45,326 confirmed COVID-19 infection cases, 906 deaths and 41,233 recovered patients in Armenia.
On September 8, the Russia’s health ministry announced the release of the first batch of Sputnik V, the vaccine against the new coronavirus infection produced by the Gamalea Institute. It is expected that the third phase of clinical trials of the Sputnik V vaccine in Moscow polyclinics will be attended by 40,000 volunteers. -0-
