YEREVAN, January 26. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Ministry of Health has changed the procedure designed to check QR codes of citizens when their visit public places like restaurants, cafes, theaters, gyms and others.

From now on the citizens will be required to demonstrate only the green area of their QR code when entering public places and their QR codes will not be scanned.

However to protect personal data of the citizens in case of scanning the code all the information on their personal page except for the first and the last names will be closed.

The Ministry said also that in case a person is infected with Covid-19, the fact of his illness will be displayed in the ArMed application in the form of a red QR code. During the whole period of his/her illness the QR code will be gray and after recovery it will become green again.

Starting from January 22 the citizens who have not been vaccinated or have not had a negative PCR test are banned from visiting public places and events. Experts and social media users saw this stiffening as a violation of the law on the confidentiality of personal data. -0-
