YEREVAN, March 16. /ARKA/. All people arriving in Armenia will have to undergo rapid tests for coronavirus, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said on Monday at an emergency government meeting that declared state of emergency in an effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
He said to this end the Ministry of Health will acquire rapid test kits and everyone arriving at the airport, regardless of which country they are citizens of, will have to pass the test.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, people will have to pass tests, regardless of whether they are coming from the "dangerous country" or not.
At the same time, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Suren Papikyan noted that even using rapid tests, it is impossible to completely control the situation.
“Previously, we also checked the temperature of people, arriving from abroad, and the first person that tested positive for the infection, did not have temperature, but he was a potential carrier of the virus. We must also take this type of risk into account,” said Papikyan.
At an extraordinary meeting on Monday, the Armenian government decided to declare a state of emergency throughout the country from 5:00 p.m. on March 16 until 09:00 April 16.
According to the latest reports, as of March 16, there were 30 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Armenia. About 300 people were isolated. The first case of coronavirus infection in Armenia was confirmed on March 1, the infected man has already recovered. Among those infected were Armenian citizens from Iran and Italy (residents of Yerevan, Etchmiadzin and Meghri), people in contact with them, as well as one Italian citizen and a visitor from France. The vast majority of those infected, including one schoolchild, are residents of Etchmiadzin. -0-
